Wind and rain is back

It was rainy today but we were able to band for a few hours at least, but the wind picked up from the northeast throughout the day. This isn’t the best wind direction for our location, and some of the rain was north of us blocking migrants, so it was another quiet day of banding. The rain is part of a front drifting over us that may go south and then come back north with rain later this week, which could get interesting if it combines with good migrating conditions to the north of us.

We seem to be having a good year for Prairie warblers. This one is a hatching-year bird; note the white and grey pattern in the face (photo by Kristen Brush)
