Waiting for a front…

A rainstorm this morning came through around 0830 and we caught a lot of birds in the net run immediately following, but activity in the nets slowed down as the sun came out again. Sometimes it seems as if the birds evaporate along with the wet on the leaves. Still some nice diversity considering the smaller number of captures today, with Chuck-will’s widow and Swainson’s thrush the highlights. A ‘cold’ front is forecast to come down the state this week, and stall near us with lots of rain. Things could get interesting if it lines up right, especially on Wednesday or Thursday. We’ll just have to wait and see!
