It was a hot start to the season with calm winds, mostly clear skies and temperatures in the low 90’s. The cicadas were very loud this morning. Few birds were on the move across the entire Southeastern US with a ridge of high pressure in control. Still, there is almost always somebody around and our first bird banded was a Lousiana waterthrush, one of the earliest migrant warblers. These birds start showing up in South Florida in early July and are almost done with their migration when we open in mid-August.
