Our first few days open this year were painfully slow with only 2 to 3 birds caught each day, but migration picked up later in the month with an excellent 67 bird day on August 26. We finished the half-month of banding with 236 captures of 21 species; the most we have ever banded by this date. Not having to close for the hurricane threat that we often get this time of year helped a lot!
Liz Golden with the Cerulean warbler banded on 8/23, the ‘best’ bird of the month (but they’re all good!)
