We had a little more activity today. The morning started out looking like another single-digit day for captures, seemingly because of the southeast winds that had kicked up overnight. However, birds trickled in all morning and we had a flock move through the banding area by 11AM, almost doubling our captures for the day.
Adult American redstarts dominated the day, as they often migrate ahead of the young birds. We also banded two breeding species for the park, a Great crested flycatcher and a Common ground-dove. The doves appear to be having a good summer as there seems to be more of them around and the bird we banded today was a juvenile.
