Past 500 birds!

We sailed past our 500th bird of the season today with 38 captures. Not sure who exactly was #500, so we will give honors to this Great-crested flycatcher. It usually takes a lot less time to get the second 500 birds since the pace of migration picks up a lot during the end of September. Still, so much of migration is weather-dependent, and the flow of birds down the peninsula may be cut off a little by the rains from Hurricane Sally for the next few days. We shall see!
