Fall Migration Transitions!

Welcome back to the Fall 2023 season!

As many of you already know, I have permanently relocated north this fall. I am spending August through November in Cape May, NJ running the banding station there, and then I will go to New York City after the season ends. It is an emotional decision to leave South Florida after 23 amazing years, but it is the right one for me at this time. I will dearly miss the volunteer community we have established around the CFBS over the last 22 years, but you all still have each other and have become the foundation upon which CFBS will depend to be able to continue. Come visit me if you find yourself up that way! I’m keeping my 305 phone number.

Nasim Mahomar and Nicole Rita have started as full-time co-directors of the banding station, and I will continue in the background as a remote consultant on the administrative duties such as permits, data management and report writing, as well as training them in these tasks. I will take the lead on the Adopt-a-Net campaign this fall. I am very excited to have Nasim and Nicole’s enthusiasm, energy and new ideas contributing to the future of the CFBS.

We have started  a worker-led nonprofit for CFBS so we can direct our own future while continuing to fundraise with our partners. We will be communicating through our new domain and ALL CFBS communication should be directed to the email: info@capefloridabandingstation.org. If you need to contact one us directly you can use these emails:  michelle@capefloridabandingstation.org,  for Nasim at, nasim@capefloridabandingstation.org or Nicole at, nicole@capefloridabandingstation.org.

CFBS will be open 7 days a week as usual, starting on August 15th and going until November 10th. I would like to thank you all for the years of support and hope that you will continue to follow along as we move towards a new future for the banding station!

Best,

Michelle Davis

We were having such a fun and emotional time at this spring’s banding party/Michelle’s going away event, we forgot to take group photos! Here are the few photos that were taken that afternoon!
