Welcome to the 2024 Mini Spring Banding Season! We’re thrilled to kick off another season of migratory bird research at the Cape Florida Banding Station with such a dedicated team of volunteers and supporters. Typically, our doors would have opened on March 15th, however, this year, we began on April 15th due to funding constraints, which have forced us to operate on a condensed schedule. Despite this setback, we’re eager to make the most of the time we have until May 15th, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to continue our important work.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who have generously dedicated their time and energy to make this season possible. Your unwavering support is the backbone of our operations, and we couldn’t do it without you!

We have kicked off our Adopt-a-net Spring Campaign! Your support covers operational costs and earns you the naming rights to a net. Plus, you’ll receive updates on the birds caught – it’s a unique opportunity to directly contribute to conservation! Join us in making a difference this season!
As we navigate through this season, it’s crucial to recognize that our fight for bird conservation and environmental justice is intertwined with broader and international social movements. We firmly believe in the intersectionality of these struggles, understanding that issues of environmentalism and anti-racism are essential in addressing the current climate crises. Our commitment to these values shapes not only our research and community science but also the way we operate as a worker-led organization.
So as we embark on this season together, let’s keep the spirit of collaboration and solidarity alive. Together, we can make a difference not only for our feathered friends but for the planet as a whole. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us! <3
