Two views of a gorgeous young male Cerulean warbler banded today, along with 6 other birds. Most members of this species cross the Gulf of Mexico and migrate down through Central America on their way to wintering grounds in northern South America, so they are infrequently encountered in south Florida. Note the long wing tips; these birds are well suited to long distance migrations and are especially sleek. This particular bird was carrying a good fat load and will probably leave tonight for South America.

He’s quite handsome! Congrats!
AHHHH the one day we’re not there!!
