Today the birds came in to Cape Florida, brought into the general area by a front to the north and encouraged to drop down on the Cape by a light rain shower around 0830. American redstarts and Black & white warblers made up the bulk of these birds, as they start their migration early. Black & whites have been present in the area in decent numbers since Hurricane Isaias passed by offshore in late July and the early migrants took advantage of several clear nights with north to northwest tailwinds.
New species for the season also included Northern parula and Worm-eating warbler. All 6 of these species largely winter in the Greater Antilles and South Florida.
